Dr. Giani graduated in Medicine in 2008 at the University of Milan where she completed her training in Pediatrics in 2014.
In 2014 she joined the Genetics and Epidemiology Section at the Pediatric, Adolescent and Young Adult Section of the Joslin Diabetes Center at Harvard Medical School, collaborating on projects for enhancing the use of advanced diabetes technologies in youth with diabetes.
In 2016 she obtained the title of “Excellence in Graduation in Applied Biostatistics” at the Harvard Educational Program.
In 2017 Dr. Giani joined the Pediatric Clinic of the V. Buzzi Children’s Hospital in Milan as pediatric consultant, and she worked as Scientific Director of the Pediatric Diabetologic Clinic until 2019. During this period the first hybrid closed loop systems approved for the pediatric age have been successfully set in a number of kids with type 1 diabetes.
In 2019 Dr. Giani gained her PhD Program in Science of Nutrition at the University of Milan with a project titled “Physical Activity and Nutrient Intake in Youth with Type 1 Diabetes”.
In 2015 she founded the young investigator group of the International Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Diabetes (Juniors in Educational Networking and International Research Opportunities, ISPAD Society), and she is currently the elected leader of the group for the years 2019-2021.
Since 2016 she is a member of the Editorial Board of the “E-Learning Program” for the ISPAD/ESPE International Societies.
In November 2018 she joined the Humanitas University as researcher and she is currently responsible for the Pediatrics graduate course at the Humanitas University Medical School
